cncKad covers the entire process from initial drawing to completed NC program.
As an integrated CAD/CAM system, cncKad offers comprehensive drawing facilities, including predefined parametric shapes that are often used in the sheet metal industry.
Together with a host of construction methods, these features ensure fast drawing of even complex sheet metal parts. Modifications are quick and easy with functions such as stretching, rotation, copy and much more.
In many cases, drawings are provided by customers. cncKad provides the possibility of importing them in formats such as DWG, DXF, IGS, CDL, HPG, and others.
cncKad recognizes layer structures allowing a quick isolation of the relevant geometry. At the same time, a checking facility cleans up the imported geometry, so that it will be ready for processing.
At the core of Metalix cncKad lies the expert knowledge system, containing the technology data which allows cncKad to make intelligent choices about process parameters and tool selection. This built-in intelligence enables a high degree of automation, yet the programmer can take control of the process at any time.
Based on predefined rules, the Auto Tooling function selects the tools to be used on the part. Tool choice can be influenced by factors such as preferred tools, minimizing tool changes, micro-joints and, of course, material parameters. The programmer can modify the proposed tool selection, as desired.
Once a part has been tooled, cncKad is able to optimize the use of standard sheets or remnant material by placing the parts intelligently. A number of options are available: group array nesting, interactive nesting of distinct parts or automatic nesting based on production requirements - with the Metalix AutoNest module.
At this point, tool order and tool paths can be defined automatically by cncKad, or interactively by the programmer.
Common line punching, working in stripes, cutting part-by-part and any other specific way of processing the sheet are easily available. Repositions are calculated automatically, whether used for punching in clamp zones or to process sheets larger than the working range of the machine.
cncKad will always optimize the chosen methods in order to minimize the production time, taking machine capabilities and limitations into account. The post-processor will then convert these actions into efficient NC programs.
A step by step simulation allows careful checking of the program, reading back the produced NC program and showing each operation on the screen.
More than 400 different machines to date have been driven by cncKad. The solutions are normally adapted individually to every machine.
In addition, cncKad calculates the machine run time and produces detailed reports to be used in the production environment. The resulting NC program can be transferred to the machine by a variety of ways, such as floppy disk, direct connection (DNC) or via a network, depending on the options available on your machine.
